Sifnos kosmopolitiska strand
Platis Gialos är den mest livliga och välorganiserade stranden på Sifnos. Namnet betyder ”bred strand”, och det passar perfekt – kustlinjen är lång och rymlig och erbjuder komfort för varje besökare.
Sevärdheter och historiska platser
Nordost om Platis Gialos ligger Aspros Pyrgos, ett av Sifnos 55 forntida torn. Även om det inte är öppet för besökare, är dess närvaro fortfarande ett viktigt historiskt landmärke på ön.
Vid inloppet till bukten ligger den obebodda ön Kitriani, som rymmer sin enda byggnad: Panagia Kiprianou (10–11:e århundradet). Detta är den äldsta kyrkan på Sifnos – en fridfull och helig plats som utmärker sig i landskapet.
På vägen till Platis Gialos hittar du en avfart som leder till Panagia tou Vounou (1813). En av de äldsta och vackraste kyrkorna på Sifnos, byggd på en plats med fantastisk havsutsikt. Den tallskuggade gårdsplanen erbjuder svalka, medan den nedre terrassen liknar en balkong över Egeiska havet, med utsikt över Kitriani och Platis Gialos-bukten. Under sommaren hålls här kulturella och musikaliska evenemang – får du chansen att uppleva ett, så missa det inte!
En strand för alla smaker
Platis Gialos är en av de största sandiga stränderna på Sifnos och erbjuder något för alla:
- Familjer med små barn: En del av stranden har grunt vatten och stora sandytor – perfekt för oändlig lek.
- För den som söker avkoppling: Här finns solstolar och parasoller för bekvämlighet, samt fria ytor för dem som föredrar att lägga sin handduk under tamariskträden.
- För den sociala: Detta är öns mest livliga strand, med strandbarer som serverar utsökta snacks, uppfriskande cocktails och kvalitetskaffe.
Dessutom tilldelas stranden varje år EU:s Blå Flagg tack vare sitt rena vatten och sina utmärkta faciliteter.

Längs stranden hittar du tavernor och restauranger med bord direkt på sanden, där du kan njuta av medelhavsrätter gjorda på färska lokala ingredienser, internationella rätter och moderna smaker. Oavsett om du söker en romantisk middag eller en avslappnad kväll vid havet erbjuder Platis Gialos många livliga matupplevelser.
Aktiviteter och vattensport
Om du älskar äventyr har Platis Gialos mycket att erbjuda – från vattensporter (SUP, trampbåt och kanotpaddling) till båtuthyrning, så att du kan utforska Sifnos dolda stränder.
För vandringsentusiaster leder en led härifrån till Fykiada, en fantastisk sandstrand som endast kan nås med båt eller till fots. Längs vägen kan du stanna för ett uppfriskande dopp i avskilda vikar.
